Small Business Gift Guide-Kids

December 12, 2020 by breanna5568 Leave a Comment

Here is a list of small, local and black owned toy shops! Help keep the little guys in business. There are a lot of options, making it easy to shop small!

  1. Action Figures– This iconic black panther would make a really cool kids gift, honoring black culture, and Chadwick Bozeman. And, it’s from a black owned toy store, aptly named “The Black Toy Store”. I do have to note, that when you click to to buy, this store routes you to Amazon, I discovered.
  2. Ikuzi Dolls– this small, black owned shop makes it so black and brown girls can have a beautiful doll that looks like them. Sweet, well made dolls sure to please any doll loving kid!
  3. Flower Child Consignment is a great local kids clothing store in Petaluma. Kids outgrow clothing so fast, that it makes sense to get high quality second hand clothes for them.
  4. Shop small for books at Ashay by the Bay. Books are such a wonderful gift for kids, and the staff at the black owned shop can surely help you find whatever you need.
  5. Luma Vintage makes the cutest screen printed items, especially these chicken onesies. Find these and other gifts at Field Works, among other places.
  6. Mum and Dots is a newly created company by a very good friend of mine. She is a mother, first and foremost, and created this business so she could work from home with her kids. These impeccably crafted, innovative baby items would make a truly exception gift. They come in a variety of adorable prints, in a matching hand sewn bag that includes items like a bib and changing pad.
  7. Merci Milo has a really beautiful collection of kid and baby items. Lots of wood toys, adorable stuffed animals and more.
  8. These “take your dog for a walk” wooden toys are fun, beautiful and handmade. A sweet gift for a new walker!
  9. If you aren’t familiar with JellyCat stuffies, you should be. They are the cutest! Get anything from a stuffed ravioli, to a bashful monkey, in a variety of sizes. Hello Penngrove has an awesome selection.
  10. This ABC play mat looks like fun  for “tummy time”. Available here
  11. Toy B Ville, Petaluma’s local toy shop is the spot to fill all of your lego needs!
  12. Sebastopol has a great toy shop, Sonoma Toyworks. So many toys that make you really miss being a kid at Christmas. The owner is really helpful, and happy to point you in the right direction. (And of course I have to recommend the Fire Truck toy)
