I totally get that it can be so easy just to go to big box stores, or the big A, to get your holiday shopping done, so I made this list of some great small businesses to shop from. Most have online ordering, but some are only local delivery or store pick up.
I’ve suggested one or two things from each, so it’s it not so overwhelming to sift through all the great stuff.

The Small Business List-in no particular order
- Dragon Fly Floral in Healdsburg, has an online “Gift Soiree” with all sorts of artisan made items. Check out the pottery.
- Barber Cellars has wine, of course, and has teamed up with other local small businesses to make awesome gift baskets. Wine can be shipped, baskets local delivery only.
- Flower Casita and Casita Friends is a local florist who does the most beautiful arrangements. If you order a bouquet, or floral subscription, you can now add on many awesome local items and create a gift basket. San Francisco and North Bay delivery available.
- Beauty Heroes is the best place to shop for “beauty, lifestyle and wellness, that’s good for people and the planet”. I LOVE this store and feel so lucky that their flagship store is in Marin County! All shopping can be done online, or in store. Many of my favorites on my Skincare Gift Guide can be purchased from Beauty Heroes. Or gift someone a subscription! So fun to get a surprise delivery every month!

- Copperfield’s Books is a great local small business bookshop, with quite a few locations in the SF Bay Area. Also, shop online, with shipping or curbside pick up available. My Kitchen Gift Guide has some cookbook suggestions, but also love this book, this book, and this book. Just to name a few! Also, check out the cool CopperBox book subscription for little kids!
- Bookshop is another great way to shop for books online (or a gift cert). You can choose your local bookstore, and a portion of what you spend will go them. You can also purchase ebooks and audiobooks.
- Penngrove Market is not your average grocery store. They have so many other local small businesses, from olive oil, to spices, to meat to pottery and flowers, just to name a few. A great place to shop for items for a gift basket. They also have mainstream items, so you won’t feel like totally out of your element.

- Hello Penngrove is such a great place to find gifts. They have an awesome kid/baby section, all kinds of unique homeware, jewelry, etc, etc. And, you can shop for many items online! They offer shipping, local delivery, store pickup and in store shopping. Follow their Instagram to see much more of what they carry!
- Summer Cottage Antiques in downtown Petaluma (which is renowned for it’s antique shops), is the perfect place to find a one of a kind, meaningful gift for someone. Here is an idea some of the cool stuff they have. Aside from modified regular business hours, they offer private appointments so you can shop alone.
- The Find- Petaluma is another shop with a variety of antiques, and handmade items. Lots of unique gifts to choose from, from a variety of local small businesses.
- Vintage Bank Antiques I can lose track of time in this shop. SO much to look at. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy vintage items. And, yes, it is actually in the old bank, and the vault is still there! This building is actually for sale, if you’re in the market for a vintage bank. The store will remain for a year after the sale, it sounds like, so get in there while you can.
- Fieldworks Petaluma is a fun shop for lots of local items. It’s another of my go-to spots for gifts. They have such a variety, it’s hard not to find something to fit the bill. Shop online and have items shipped, or shop in store.
- Good Gray This is a really beautiful shop. They have so many gorgeous kitchen items, lovely sustainable home items, art supplies, and more. A great small business to support!

- BLK & GREEN Is an “all natural marketplace of all black artisans”. I’m really glad to have found this aggregate site. So many awesome gift options on here! This sounds nice, and I want to try this, such a chic bottle! And this cuticle cream would make a great stocking stuffer.
- Etsy started as solely homemade items, but now is an aggregate of small businesses, from artisan crafted furniture, to vintage items, and basically everything in between. Just use the search bar like google and see what comes up! This is an easy way to support small businesses. They offer gift cards, too!
- Stockhome is one of my favorite restaurants in Petaluma, and they also offer a unique array of gift items, jewelry, wine, art etc. Check out their Instagram to see more of what they offer, like beautiful mugs and ceramic bowls (which might be for store pick up only). Or, give someone a gift certificate to order out from either this restaurant, or their sister restaurant in San Francisco, Plaj.
- Made Local Marketplace has a brick and mortar shop in Santa Rosa, and an online store. They tons of, well, made local, items to choose from. Check out this gift basket, these would make good stocking stuffers, beautiful art, and delicious food, to go with cheese on this gift guide!
- Bay Area Doorstep Market is a relatively new online marketplace with goods from all over the Bay Area (who would have guessed…). Check out their ‘Gifts Under $50’ section. This site has everything from make your own soy sauce kit, to trucker hats, to extravagant BBQ’s, to everything in between. There are also Doorstep Markets for a few other regions of the country that you can shop.
- Fullbloom Flower Farm offers spring flower subscriptions. How great would that be? And she has some of her handmade skincare available now, too. We could all use some ‘Uplifting Salve’ right about now!

- B-Side Flower Farm has the most incredible Peonies, and they offer a subscription service that would be sure to brighten anyone’s day. They deliver to variety of locations throughout the Bay Area. So nice to support this small floral businesses.
- JenniFlora grows the most stunning, fragrant roses. I met her and experienced her roses over the summer, and she has such a passion for what she does. Made me love roses more than I already did. She offers a rose subscription (and other services like wedding floral design.)
- Uncommon Goods This is such a fun website. They offer a million unique things, by offering items from independent makers. These would make a fun gift, along with some wine. Love these for your a book loving friend, maybe along with a gift certificate to a book store? And check out this page for lots of fun stuff.
- In the Making Petaluma More gorgeous artisan made gifts, including pottery, leather bags, and clothing. I like this beautiful bowl.
- Rusty Hinges Ranch has a food subscription, or one time purchase of amazing boxes of fresh local produce, bread, milk, cheese, etc. You have to pick them up at their ranch, but this would make a really awesome gift for someone local. They also have beautiful wreaths available.
- Pretty Well Beauty is the perfect place to shop for the skincare and wellness lover in your life, while also supporting a black woman owned small business. This is a great brand, and sure to be luxurious balm. And here is something good for baby’s first stocking

- Thistle Meats is another great option for local food gifts. They are a butcher shop, charcuterie, and pantry for other goods. Curbside pick up and some delivery available.
- Farmer’s Markets are not just lettuce and peaches. There vendors offering all sorts of items, including jewelry, handmade clothing, wood carved items, wines, home decor, etc. etc. Take a walk through the open air and see what you find. A.I.M Farmer’s Markets have a list of vendors on their website, and note if they sell online, as well.
- Sole’s Desire is a shoe store in Petaluma. Check out the collection of super cozy slippers they have, perfect for chilly work at home days! Lots of premium quality, beautiful, unique shoes at this shop.

- And last but not least, here a few suggestions for gifts certificates, (aside from gift cards from the above places):
- Still Skincare Studio- I would love to get a gift certificate for a facial from the wonderful Lindsay. She makes me feel so at ease and is so good at what she does. I will NOT be disappointed. Um, I mean, whoever gets this gift will not be disappointed.
- Crown Hair Salon just happens to be owned by the above mentioned Lindsay’s husband, and just like her studio, his salon is unpretentious, yet it still feels like a pampering, stylish, getaway. A gift card could get someone a haircut, or a styling too
- Thrive Market is a really incredible online grocery store. Gift someone a membership, and they will be able to access the best prices on all sorts of healthy, delicious foods. The company also donates a membership to someone in need, with every one purchased. So cool.
- LibroFM is an audibook subscription service. The monthly fee covers one book, and you can purchase additional as desired.
- Yoga with Adriene and Find What Feels Good is the best yoga program, as far as I’m concerned. I love Adriene and her dog Benji. She really makes yoga work for everyone, with humor, without being holier- than-thou, about it, but obviously takes her craft seriously. I love her ‘Find What Feels Good’ subscription service (with smart tv app!)
- Restaurants are struggling right now/all year. Buying gift certificates and takeout, are two wonderful things you can do to help keep with afloat. Sonoma County (and the surrounding Bay Area) has SO many incredible restaurants to choose from. Please reach out if you need suggestions!
