I love giving jewelry, especially handmade, as gifts. Sonoma county has SO many amazing artisans to choose from, it was really hard to narrow down this list. I tried to include a variety of styles. Some of these are are also black owned businesses, that I wanted to take the time to highlight! Please reach out if you have questions!

Jewelry Gift Guide 1-12
- Spiral Jewelry and Artisery is an amazing little jewelry shop in Petaluma, and is always one of my first stops for gifts. The variety of jewelry in the shop makes it easy to cater to any style, price point (ugh, what happened to just saying price??), or occasion. Everything in the store is made, designed, or curated by Jenny, the artisan owner (and former geologist, so she picks the coolest stones!). She can also help you design a custom piece.
2. Collective Hearts Jewelry makes delicate, yet stunning statement pieces. Their giant heart necklaces are unique, and encourage the company mission of spreading the love. They also have a range of other items, from sweet little heart rings to love stamped stud earrings, and more. They also put a big emphasis on contributing to a variety of charities. An item from them is a love filled, feel good gift for sure, especially for anyone in isolation, as a reminder of the love that surrounds them, even if from afar. One of my favorite stores, Beauty Heroes, also carries some their items, which is where I discovered them.
3. West County Designs One could argue that time is wasted on social media, but if it weren’t for me endlessly scrolling on Instagram, I never would have discovered Elizabeth, and her beautiful jewelry, handmade in Sonoma county. I love her aesthetic. It was really hard to decide which item to share on this gift guide because I seriously love everything she does, and her prices make her jewelry accessible. If you’re reading this and you’re a friend of mine with a neck or pierced ears, you might very well be in for a West County Designs treat. (If you’re a friend of mine without a neck, I’ll get you a scarf to cover up the space between your head and body…)
4. Candid Art has bold designs, hand crafted in Oakland by a black woman. Candice designs jewelry, home, and kid items “created for the fearless fashion enthusiast who desires to make a statement without saying a word”. Check out what she has to offer and give someone a truly unique gift. I’m especially partial to her rings.
5. Local Eclectic is such a fun online jewelry shop. I love that they are female founded and female run, aiming to showcase emerging designers. So much to look at, I’ll give you a place to start: the pear stacking ring set in gold with white opal, Chloe star and moon hoop earrings, the Edie Necklace, and the labradorite rectangle bezel set necklace.
6. Soko is a really amazing “woman led, people first, ethical jewelry brand and tech powered manufacturing platform, built to connect artisans in Kenya with the global market”. Their pieces are gorgeous and unique. I’m loving the chain link necklace trend, and their Ellipse Link Collar and Capsule Collar necklaces are beautiful.
7. Compass Rose Design is a Marin County designer who takes vintage buttons, spoons, and other items and fashions them into timeless jewelry creations. Each item is a one of a kind, so you’re sure to surprise someone with something they don’t have. If I know someone who is headed in a new direction in life, I might give them a talisman, like the Four Directions antique bottom necklace, or some really unique cufflinks!
8.The Girl with the Pearl is delicate jewelry with a rustic edge, including freshwater pearls, wire crochet (have a friend who knits or crochets? They’d love something like this),and gem pieces. I love the wishbone pendant. The artist is self taught, and started by wanting her own wedding guests to have a handmade favor that would serve as reminder of the happy occasion. I’ve found her jewelryb at many places in Sonoma, Marin, and beyond, including one of favorite gift shops, Hello Penngrove!
9. Kalua Rae is a black owned online jewelry boutique that sells “Handcrafted Jewelry for the Wandering Soul”. They tout their style as “Minimalist with a Bohemian twist”. Check out their earrings, this necklace, and this non jewelry item, for a cool stocking stuffer!
10. Lulu Designs Jewelry is another go-to shopping spot for me. Lulu Designs Jewelry is a Mill Valley based shop. I discovered them when local Sonoma and Marin county artisans donated items to sell for a fundraiser for the 2017 fires. I purchased a necklace from their collection called “The Fire Inside”, which spoke to me in several ways, and I was intrigued, immediately going to their website, and was hooked. Stacy King and her team are behind the creation of their sophisticated, organic, and beautiful style. I love their mixed metals, and the passion behind their creations. Check out their rings, these necklaces, and bracelets, to start. The are located at the Mill Valley Lumber yard, with lots of other cool shops!
11. Misayo House is a black owned business, with a focus on giving back. Their jewelry is sparkly and classic. Delicate tennis bracelets, colored stone hoops. The founder Idunnu’s mission is to share her love of classic, timeless chic jewelry. She curates and creates a collection of luxury jewelry, without the luxury price tag. No needs to know the stones are look alikes!
12. Presh Jewelry has a bit of a cult following, and rightfully so. The pieces are unique, edgy and beautiful. The leather wrap bracelets are iconic. Check out her Bold Raspberry Agate Ring for anyone who likes to make a statement, and for a more delicate, versatile piece, I love the Eda Gem Ring with Gold and Labradorite. Also, the sample sale section of the website is amazing. You’re sure to find jewelry for a variety of people, and have something left to treat yourself, too.
Hope this has been helpful! If jewelry is not your thing, I’ve got lots of other ideas, from food and beverages, to kids items and skincare, kitchen items, and all kinds of other stuff!
